Everything we love about Dry Creek zinfandel comes to the fore in this wine…Black Raspberry and spice leap from the glass, and on the palate, the concentration and richness of that raspberry fruit is stunning. Add layers of blackberry, current, and eastern spice and all of a sudden, you need to have a second glass of this wine. This is an exceptionally powerful wine, yet so well balanced, that the final impression is in elegance, and the finish is so long that you could call it “timeless” elegance. That too, is a really good thing.

2012 Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley

SRP: $29.00

The blueberry flavors that are the hallmark of our syrah come to the forefront of this wine, leading in the nose as well as on the palate. As the wine opens, blackberry, currents and crushed violets are added to the mix, all framed with a solid back-bone of drying tannins, spicy mocha, and toasty French oak. A huge wine, but one that can really dance. The suppleness of the wine belies the underlying power it possesses, but there is no doubting its muscle…the finish is rich long and eminently enjoyable.

Harvested entirely from the oldest blocks of our Grist vineyard, this is a serious Syrah that shows what a high elevation site can do. On the nose aromas of plum, ripe blueberry, and violet fill the glass. The palate is a bit more concentrated with rich elements of smoked spice and slate while the plum and ripe blueberry effortlessly carry through on the core. Structured with firm acidity and serious tannins, the finish is long and supple with fruit remaining in tact. The finish is so long in fact this would be one of those wines where you find yourself still tasting it in the car on the ride home from dinner. Yes, it is that long.
